Hortal’s Bold, Explosive Style

Hortal’s Bold, Explosive Style

I love artists who capture a dynamism in their work that snatches your attention, forcing you to focus your concentration on what they’ve created.

Painter, Yago Hortal, is the perfect example of an artist whose work stands up and demands to be noticed. His abstract expressionist style and bold, textured use of color and form creates an explosion on each canvas. His work from 2011, which was shown at exhibits in Germany, the US, his native Spain, and Colombia, embody a sophisticated use of colour and technique when compared to his earlier work. It will be exciting to see how this young painter develops from here.

Details of his 2012 shows can be found on the Berlin-based artist’s site.

It is not sufficient to see and to know the beauty of a work. We must feel and be affected by it.
